Last month, OBE Organic was privileged to share its expertise in marketing and exporting with a hand-picked group of female entrepreneurs from South East Asia, Mongolia and Timor-Leste.

The women were in Australia on a Women Trading Globally program facilitated by the Export Council of Australia (ECA), in partnership with the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s Aid for Trade and Australia Awards programs.

The training program has been formulated specifically for women in small businesses, and our friends at ECA asked OBE Organic to contribute because we are well known for our own farmer-owned-business growth story and commitment to gender empowerment.

We welcomed the group to our Brisbane HQ where Sales Executive Elle Rands was part of a team who shared how we market our OBE Organic grass fed beef around the world, including the value of social media as a marketing tool and of sustainability as a risk management as well as a marketing tool.

Our Managing Director Dalene Wray also spoke earlier in the week on a panel discussion and gave a presentation to the group about export marketing basics.

Market entry, pricing strategy, marketing and managing growth were some of the areas of our business that were keenly questioned by the attentive participants.

From our perspective, we really worked to impress on the women that being small is no barrier to growth and that women can achieve their goals by looking to collaborate.

The “Australia Awards: Women Trading Globally” program has been designed under the Aid for Trade initiative to assist small business owners from the Pacific to develop the capabilities needed to open their businesses to new international markets, as well as connect with other women entrepreneurs in Australia.

OBE Organic would like thank Export Council Australia for connecting us with this group of inspiring women to looking to grow their export businesses.
