Landing on a remote airstrip in the outback can be challenging, especially when it’s at night. It is vital that our pilots are assured runways are clear of animals, washouts and soft surfaces to protect the safety of the crew, patients and aircraft when conducting an aeromedical retrieval. The RFDS is incredible thankful for community members who ensure our 200+ landing strips across Queensland are maintained and visible for our crew. Here are some tips for maintaining an airstrip:
