The Hereford is a British breed of beef cattle originally from Herefordshire in the West Midlands of England.
It was present in Australia before 1850.
Hereford characteristics include:
· Deep red to red-yellow coats
· White faces
· White flanks and white markings below the knees and hocks
· Early maturity and ability to thrive under adverse conditions
· Blocky and muscular appearance
· Medium to large size
· The can be both horned and polled
