Everyone in the OBE Organic team is a champion, but now one of us has official proof.

We are so proud of our Sales and Production Executive Kirsty McCormack, who on 24 August was announced Cattle Council of Australia’s 2017 NAB Agribusiness Rising Champion.

The Rising Champion program aims to inspire, empower and support young people who are passionate about the Australian beef industry.

Competing against six other State and Territory finalists, the focus of Kirsty’s presentation to the judging panel was on the imperative for the beef industry to be proactive in protecting its social license to operate. Central to this, Kirsty said, is the need for the beef industry to improve collaboration between producers and peak bodies, to build trust with those outside the industry, to shine a light on any practices in the industry that might impact that trust, and to tell the beef industry’s story proactively.

Kirsty is a worthy winner and a fabulous choice. We are fortunate to see every day at OBE how hard she works to sell our producers’ organic beef around the world, and how passionate she is in embracing technology as a tool to improve collaboration and communication to benefit our industry.

And while we’re delighted for Kirsty, we’re not surprised. OBE Organic is owned by organic cattle producers, and our business is built around maximizing returns for organic cattle producers. To do that, we need to have the brightest and most passionate people working for us – and Kirsty is just one of a team of fabulous OBE Organic people who have those attributes in spades.

So congratulations Kirsty, enjoy your prizes (including attending the International Beef Alliance conference in New Zealand in October 2016), and thank you for helping OBE Organic do the best job it possibly can to support our cattle producers to flourish.
