Australia’s oldest organic beef marketing company, OBE Organic, has moved its General Manager Dalene Wray from Hong Kong back to its Brisbane head office as part of its drive to significantly increase supply within two years.
Ms Wray was based in Hong Kong for five years where she directed efforts to build export markets in Asia, North America and the Middle East.
With demand for OBE Organic’s product now far outstripping supply, Ms Wray returns to Australia to focus on attracting quality new organic producers to supply the farmer-owned business.
“OBE Organic was established by family farmers and we are trusted by family farmers to look after them,” Ms Wray said.
“Our reputation and innovative marketing is driving booming demand for our organic beef in Australia and globally, and we need more committed organic beef producers to supply us.
“We have a strong focus on supporting our producers to be more profitable and innovative as a result of their partnership with us, and we are looking for more producers to share the benefits of being part of the OBE Organic family,” she said.
In addition to organic premiums paid to producers, OBE Organic has a number of initiatives in place to support its producer network. These include a generous grid to deliver consistently high average prices, international market tours, regular forums to improve access to profitability and technology management skills, and support for conventional producers converting to organic.
Ms Wray has relocated to Australia just in time for the start of Beef Australia 2015.
OBE Organic will retain a permanent international presence through its Hong Kong-based director Deirdre Lander.
Regular market visits and a sophisticated social media platform – including Facebook, Twitter, Linked-In and Instagram – will also continue to build demand for its product.
