As a company that has a vested interest in maintaining a sustainable beef production business, the team at OBE Organic is particularly focused on supporting youth interested in Australia’s important agriculture industry.

Sarah Rutledge, one of OBE’s Sales & Production Executives, is the company’s resident expert and advocate for engaging youth. Sarah is very active in professional organisations providing training and resources for youth interested in careers in agriculture.

“I think it is essential for OBE, and all agricultural industries, to support youth; if there is no youth involved and passionate about agriculture, then there is no future in Aussie agriculture,” said Rutledge.

Some of the ways OBE is currently getting involved with young folks interested in agriculture and agribusiness include:

– Partnering with Youth Food Movement Australia – sponsoring programs such as the Brisbane Film Feast
– Sponsoring career fairs such as Farming Futures Careers Fair at the University of New England in Armidale
– Participating in the Graeme Acton Beef Connections program from Beef Australia

“The next generation in agriculture understands the importance of being open and willing to embrace change. We value that way of thinking and know it’s important to inspire innovative thinking amongst our youth,” continued Rutledge.

OBE continues to work on ways to engage with more young producers interested in the production of organic beef. Please get in touch with Sarah Rutledge at srutledge {at} obeorganic {dot} com if you have ideas to share.
